Like his little brother (Ranjith), Vijay is a bit rough around the edges. After school, we’ve seen Vijay race back to the hostel, run upstairs, rip his school uniform off, and run down to the playground in only his underwear, thinking he is ready to play. It’s usually pretty hot out so it’s not like you can blame him. The first few weeks of school were a big adjustment for Vijay. He was not used to any kind of schedule. He was late for school, and never where he was supposed to be when he was supposed to be there. His attention span was about 3 seconds long. Now, a few months into the school year, he is getting it down. He combs his hair (kind of) in the morning and knows that he has to have clothes on in order to play. It’s fun to see Vijay’s rough edges slowly be smoothed over with the help of his classmates, teachers, staff, and volunteers, all who have grown to love him. Vijay is very active in the classroom and has a hard time sitting still. He can usually be found sitting on his head instead of his bottom during class. He is lots of fun on the playground though and is always running everywhere.
