Murthy just grins all the time. He is plenty protected by his two older brothers, and it is so fun to watch the three of them love eachother. Murthy will just walk up to you, stand there, and smile at you forever. Not a big attetion seeker, he is well-behaved and will always do what he is told. But he loves to play and the second that you start to smile at him, his eyes will get big and he will flash a grin your way. A Murthy smile is enough to make anyone’s day.

Age: 8
Birthday: November 26, 2000
Nagaraj has the type of personality that attracts everyone.  He fits in no matter what the activity.  He is a good athlete, talented artist, and a good singer.  During recess you can find him running races or leading a group of boys on a tree climb.  His teachers all sing praises about his penmanship, and dedication to learning all subjects.  If you ask Nagaraj what his favorite part of school is, he always responds with library time.  My favorite thing about Nagaraj is that he thinks of everyone as his best friend.  He brings joy to all that know him.

Nandakumar

Birthday: July 2, 1999
Personality: Favorite color is red. He loves to eat apples and listen to “The Lion King” before he goes to bed. Best friend is C. Vignesh. Nanda Kumar is very sweet and loves to be held and tickled. He is much quieter than many of the other children but he loves to play. He is very gentle and is content to be near any of the adults, even if he is not being held. He watches everything and tries to imitate it later. (He needs very good role models). He is very friendly and it’s easy to make him smile and laugh. He is a leader. On ropes, he likes to be the first in line and lead the other children. He is very cooperative and helps pick up. Nanda Kumar enjoys learning English in his classes. His favorite color is red, and his favorite snack is apples (probably red apples.) He loves the character “Simba” from the movie, “Lion King.”

Naveen Raj

Birthday: November 20, 2000
Family Story: Both parents are Leprosy patients who met and married at the colony. They had no children and adopted Naveen Raj.
Personality: Wants to be a pilot when he grows up. Loves to play football. Favorite animal cheetah.
Favorite color is red and best friends are Heri and Theresa. Naveen Raj is a good boy. He is well-mannered and is quite mature although he has been known to make up far-fetched stories or explanations for things. He is quick to correct the other boys such as when Amy, the RSO Executive Director, was playing with the children and they were all calling out to her in English and Tamil. Naveen stopped the whole scene and shouted in Tamil, “Are you all crazy? Don’t you know you have to speak in English when you talk to Amy?”

Negeshwari

Negeshwari never pushes for attention, but just smiles sweetly on the sidelines. She loves to be held and loved, and will just smile back at you so lovingly. She is a pretty shy little girl, and doesn’t talk much. But she does love all kinds of food and is all in all a happy little girl. One time she accidentally got kicked when all the little girls were laying down to go to sleep. She didn’t make a fuss at all, just laid there with small tears running down her face. A volunteer went over to comfort her and see what happened. She didn’t get mad at anyone for getting hurt - just needed a little love and was quickly back to smiling.
Nisha M.

Age: 6
Birthday: April 29, 2002
Nisha is a sweet girl that is loved by all.  Because she is albino she stands out, but she doesn't seem to notice, and neither do the other children.  When you talk to her you expect to her reply in English, but then comes a perfect stream of Tamil.  She loves playing with the other girls, and loves to have her picture taken with her friends.
She enjoys dancing, drawing, looking at picture book, and just acting crazy.  Her two best friends, Priya and Sharmila, take good care of her.  They even stay inside with her at recess.  She can't spend to much time outside due to her sensitive eyes and skin.  Nisha is a quick learner, and seems to enjoy every minute of class.  Her teachers absolutely adore her, and so do we!  We are happy to have her here with us at Rising Star Outreach.
Nishanthi D.

Birthday: 20 October 2002
Family Story: Her father abandoned her, so she was raised by her grandparents and mother at a government-run leprosy home. They have no income.

Personality: Nishanti is probably the best child to hold. She is so content and calm; she just radiates peace. She is very wise and tends to hang back and observe life going on around her. Nishanti is very sweet and loving. She waves and blows kisses to the volunteers at night until long after they are out of sight, and then quietly goes to sleep without complaint. Compassion can always be seen on her sweet little face when another child cries.

Pavithra D.

Age: 6
Birthday:
Pavithra is a well-mannered, and respectful girl.  She always follows the rules.  In fact if you ask her what she wants to be, she will without hesitation reply with; 'I want to be a police officer, so I can make sure all of India is doing what's right'.  Pavithra loves her family very much, especially her older sister Sarumuki.  They take great care of one another.  Pavithra enjoys school, and excels in the subject of Tamil.  At recess you can usually find her performing her rendition of the latest tamil tune.  She was born a star, and the children welcome the entertainment.  We love having Pavithra here with us at Rising Star Outreach!
